This regency ha Ende as its capital, a center of government, trade and education for decades. Ende used to be an exile place of Soekarno, first President of Indonesia sent by the Dutch government when they colonized the country. The house where he lived at at that period becomes a museum nowadays that keeps collective things belong to Bung Karno. It is known as Bung Karno Museum. Ende lies at the foot of Mount Iya, Ipi, Meja and Wongge. The beaches around Ende are suitable for recreation, swimming, enjoying beautiful panorama (sunset) or traditional fishing at Nanganesa Beach (6 Km eastern Ende), Ende Beach (at central Ende), Nangalala Beach (13 Km western Ende), and Enabara Beach (87 Km from Ende).
MONIA stop over between Ende, the capital and Maumere has cool temperature. There are Kolorongo hot spring, Murundao waterfall, traditional village for performing traditional ceremonies, dancing group of Moni Kekereand a center of ikat weaving handicraft. Many home stays lie here since Moni is a starting point for tourist who want to ascend to Kelimutu Mountain. It is 24 km from Ende.
Kelimutu This National Park located on Kelimutu Mountain has spectacular attraction that is three colourd Lakes of Kelimutu. These craters have three different colours by now : green, black and oled red. The colours always changes.
