NGADA REGENCY

Bajawa is Ngada's capital situated among several volcanic mountains that is Ebulobo (2.149 m), Inerie (2.245 m), Labobutu (1.600 m) and Lambo (1.631 m). Bajawa has cool temperature and suitable place for resting or stopping by before continuing travel.

Sea Garden of Seventeen (17) Island of Riung : 17 small island lies close to each other. It takes 2,5 hours to travel around these island by speedboat. Underwater magnificence can be witness directly from teh boat if the sea is calm in the morning about 05.00 - 06.00 am. There are extinction giant lizards called Mbou with interesting color on its skin, beach white sand and bats at Ontoloe island.

Mangeruda Hot Spring : Located at Piga village in Soa subdistrict 25 km from bajawa. The water contains medical sulfur for healing skin diseases.

Enagera Maukeo Beach : Fine sandy beach located at Wolotelu village, Mouponggo subdistrict approximately 47 km from Bajawa.

Bela Traditional Village : Located 9 km southern Bajawa where stands traditional houses with Ngahdu, Bhaga and Megalithic structure as a symbol of ancestor and tribes integration.

Bena Traditional Village : is a village of Wogo's people from Golewa subdistrict. It is 17 km in the eastern Bajawa. There are also traditional houses with Ngadhu, Bhaga and Megalithic complex whose size about 2 ha.

Nage / Darwali Traditional Village : also has traditional houses, Ngahdu, Bhaga, and Megalithic or Ture. Located at Deriwali subdistrict of Aimere about 25 km southern Bajawa. BOAWAE is a little town at the bottom of Mountain Ebulobo used to be a former kingdom of Nagekeo.

Olabula Pre-Historic Site is a site of Stagadon fossils that is bones and elephant's tusk. There also ruins of ancient town and Olabula rocky port. Sutuated 45 km from Bajawa to the east or 5 km from Boawae. You can experience cultural events such as REBA the opening ceremony of traditional anniversary, held in January, February, and December at difference places.

 

 

Traditional Boxing (ETU) in Boawae ; SAGI in Soa ; SUDU in Golewa is a social game performed to celebrate thanksgiving of harvest. It is held in March, April, May, June, and July at difference places. CACI is a war-skill dance performed to celebrate thanksgiving of harvest by Riung ethnics. Caci is held in August, September and October at different places. The decision for the right time is traditionally taken and counted.
